Albino Charity Organization ran the mattress program at Buhangija Compound. The program was established in February 2013 by UKIMWASE. The purpose of the program is to properly raise these children, teach manners and interact with them in order to raise the spirits of the children at the compound and build the sense of community.

Children are continuing to arrive at the compound approximately one each day. In 2013 there was a review of about 230 children who are more than 200 percent of the capacity of the dwelling. Children were lying down on the cold cement without sheets. This resulted in children suffering from the cold.

In November 4th 2013, Albino Charity Organization provided 110 mattresses in April 2013 to the children at the compound to the children at Buhangija Compound. These children must pair with others to sleep in a limited space. UKIMWASE ensures that these children are placed with the appropriate roommates so as to avoid bullying and fighting.

Our special thanks goes to Francis Consodine, who was a major contributor to this project. We also give a lot of thanks to all the other contributors.
